Itajime shibori, or clamp-resist dyeing, is based on wooden boards held on either side of the accordion-folded cloth, then dyed. Shape and size of the wood boards influence the overall pattern. It is now widely practiced by fashion designers in India. Its beautiful colors and patterning are achieved when the artisan folds and clamp the cloth multiple times and dye it in repetitive dye baths.
